TIPS AND FACTS:

Inserting the Cigarette:

Inserting cigarette to the Filter slightly away from the orange part will increase the smoke flow and thus the filtration, compared to inserting cigarette slightly touching the orange part. The orange part is specially designed to optimize the filtration process therefore never insert the cigarette too deep reducing the smoke flow and thus the filtration.

Inhaling:

Inhaling fast will cause higher decompression in the deposit chamber and will result in higher amount of tar, nicotine and substance removal. On the other hand inhaling too fast may create discomfort. The Filter is optimized for the normal smoking pace of an average smoker. For its optimum performance, simply continue to smoke the way you were smoking before you started using this Filter.

"Light" and "Ultra Light" Cigarettes:

"Light" or "Ultra Light' cigarettes in fact contain similar amount of tar, nicotine and other harmful substances compared to their "Regular" or "Full Flavor" versions.

When you carefully inspect the filter of such cigarettes you'll usually see one or more rings of hardly visible perforations placed around 15 mm from the edge of its filter. Those rings of perforations add air to the cigarette smoke resulting in lower per volume readings of tar, nicotine and other harmful substances in the test machines, giving an illusion of a "safer" cigarette. Similar to adding a lot of water to your favorite drink you'll receive less taste in the smoke to support this illusion. In some cigarettes this ventilation is achieved using semi-permeable filter paper.

"Full Flavor" or "Regular" cigarettes have filter ventilation of 0 - 25%; "Light" cigarettes 25 - 40 % and "Ultra Light" cigarettes  above 50%. Note that this product reduces around 80% of both tar and nicotine which is hardly achievable under 80% effective filter ventilation.

The fact is that, "Light" or "Ultra Light", when you light a cigarette, a similar amount of tobacco will burn and a similar amount of smoke content can be inhaled simply with more air. The diluted smoke is usually compensated by the smoker inhaling deeper, longer and more frequently, which may even further increase risks and harms associated with smoking. Further, intentionally or unintentionally blocking some or all ventilation rings with lips or fingers can turn a cigarette into a more "Full Flavor" or "Regular" cigarette.

You can test the above facts simply smoking your cigarette, one with ventilation rings blocked and the other unblocked using this product, and then do the same with its other versions to observe and compare the accumulated deposits in the Filters.

This product will reduce the amount of tar, nicotine and other harmful substances more effectively for cigarettes with no or less ventilation as the smoke won't be diluted and cooled by the air. If you have a tendency to compensate the diluted smoke inhaling deeper, longer and more frequently or you have a tendency of blocking the ventilation rings in "Lighter" cigarettes, letting the Filter to perform better with your current cigarette and then dilute the smoke with air in your mouth, release a part of the smoke, and inhale only a portion of a better filtered and well diluted smoke may be a more effective option to further reduce inhaled substances.

In any case, whether the cigarette you are smoking is "Full Flavor", "Regular", "Light" or "Ultra Light", whatever is trapped in the filter won't go to your lungs and exhaled for second hand smokers.

The key in reducing harm and dependency is not which version of the brand you are smoking but is reducing the total amount of tar, nicotine and other harmful substances that will reach your lungs in a given period of time.

Filtration:

The filter filters less at the first and more at the following cigarettes.

Beside the brand and type of the cigarette you are smoking, the filtration depends on many factors  from the way you are inhaling to the temperature and humidity of the air. Although test results may vary depending on several factors, usually the filtration starts with removing under 80% of the tar containing nicotine and other harmful substances at the first cigarette, and may go over 90% when enough tar is accumulated on the inner walls and orange part of the Filter, as tar will stick to itself better than to any other material. Therefore, do not dispose your filter before orange part is completely covered with tar or until you notice a change in the flavor of the smoke.

Disposal:

The tar trapped in the Filter contains many harmful substances. Keep them away from the reach of children and safely dispose them well wrapped in aluminum or plastic folio.
